On the morning of Joseph Estrada’s peaceful eviction from the presidency, a handful of his enraged supporters confront a crowd of 50,000 anti-government demonstrators who had marched on the presidential palace of Malacanang in Manila to force the popular, but corrupt president to submit to their demand of full resignation.  Estrada was overthrown at 12pm, Jan. 20, 2001 when the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court declared his position vacant, and swore in Philippine Vice President Gloria Macapagal-Arroy0 as the new head of state of the Philippines.
